Founder
Avram Mukiibi Franco born in December 4, 1986 in Kenya where his parents had gone to escape the National Resistance Army war in Uganda. Avram is the first born with two siblings, Rabbi Nambi Shoshanan and Mukasa David.
At the age of six years after the war, Avram was returned to Uganda where he grew up with his grand parents, Mukulu Saul and Nambi Eseza who were among the founding members of Judaism in Uganda under Semei Kakungulu the patriach. Avram joined the Abayudaya jewish community at his early age and grew up in the community. in the early 2000, Avram was among the many members of the Abayudaya jewish community that had a conservative conversion organised by Kulanu. Avram went to a jewish school, semei Kakungulu high school and later to other non jewish schools after which he joined Kampala International University where he obtained a Bachelor of science in civil engineering.
At the University, Avram was among the founding members of Marom, a youth movement funded by marom israel.
In 2017, Avram was among the five members who visted israel on a MASA program organized by Marom and Masorit.
In israel, during a jewish agency conference, Avram met with the leaders of Kolisrael, David Yaari and Jesse Sultanic and they dared to dream about zionism in uganda.
The journey was not spontaneous. It began in 2018, when Avram together with his board started the process of registering a Zionist Federation for Uganda that was accepted and admitted as an active member of the World Zionist Movement in 2025.
This was a historic and emotional milestone for the Abayudaya community of all sects spanning from Reform, Conservative and Orthodox traditions that finally took their rightful place within the global Zionist family. The community would one day have a voice in the halls of Zionism. Today that dream is being realized.
The establishment of the Zionist federation of Uganda is not merely a formal achievement. It is a testament to the resilience and commitment of our Jewish community. It reflects our thirst to participate fully in the deliberations, decisions, and dreams of the Zionist movement not as distant spectators but as equal partners.
Our message to the world is simple: the Jewish people are one.
Whether in Israel, USA, UK or Uganda, we are bound by shared destiny and a common hope. The Zionist congress, a forum where Jewish voices of all backgrounds come together to shape the future, is richer and stronger when it includes the full diversity of our global Nation.
As we prepare to travel to Jerusalem and raise our voices alongside delegates from around the world, we carry with us the prayers of our ancestors and the hopes of future generations, Uganda’s Jews are ready to contribute.
AM ISRAEL CHAI.
